In our quest to eliminate emissions, how do we ensure that clean ammonia has the most significant positive impact on food and fuel while minimising negative environmental impacts?
Nium's mission is to eliminate emissions. Replacing the Haber-Bosch-derived global ammonia market with Nium's cleaner alternative can eliminate 1-2% of global CO2 emissions from agriculture, a further 3% from shipping and expedite the replacement of grey hydrogen with green hydrogen around the world.
In terms of emissions reduction, clean ammonia is an Archimedes lever - a chance for massive impact at a critical time.
While clean ammonia is not a silver bullet for all our environmental challenges, it holds significant potential. Emissions reduction, while urgent, is only part of the solution. Introducing clean ammonia on demand could have profound implications for the rest of our natural systems, water, air, and land.
In working to eliminate emissions, we must avoid a burden shift, where the impact of climate change is replaced with an effect on other vital planetary systems.
Nium's 2024 impact report comprehensively assesses the current ammonia landscape. It anticipates the potential impact of our technology across the nine systems from Stockholm Resilience Centre's planetary boundaries framework, providing a reliable and thorough understanding of the situation.
