With its impressively low energy requirements, Nium's nanotechnology delivers safe, scalable, decentralised, decarbonised Clean Ammonia on Demand and a cleaner future for food and fuel.

Nanoscience

Welcome to the Nanosphere! Our patent-pending nanocatalyst technologies are to industry what the microchip was to computing—a step change in processing power. The nanoscale allows us to decentralise and decarbonise ammonia production and power it with renewables.

This capability represents a groundbreaking opportunity. On-site access to a versatile vector wherever and whenever needed across energy, food and fuel—clean ammonia on demand!

Nium's nanotech breakthrough, combined with the immense processing power of the nanoscale, significantly reduces the energy required for ammonia production. This breakthrough enables us to make our catalyst work at an industrial scale with atomic-level precision—ammonia production without fossil fuels.

Mighty Minion

Our nano-catalytic technologies are housed in small-scale reactors (we call them minions) that synthesise ammonia at a fraction of the cost and pollution of traditional electrochemical and Haber-Bosch systems. This is a game-changer for your bottom line and the planet.

Our powerful nanocatalyst makes the minion strong, stable, and mighty: it adapts seamlessly to any hydrogen feedstock, and its low-pressure and low-temperature operation means a low-energy requirement that copes with power supply fluctuations, perfectly suited for renewable energy sources.

Multi Minion

Our system is modular and flexible. From agriculture to energy, clean shipping fuel to decarbonised chemicals, the minion can work its magic on any site at any scale.

We offer a bolt-on containerised solution to existing hydrogen and renewable sites or a complete kit that allows farms to produce clean hydrogen and clean ammonia on demand.

  • Clean ammonia: no fossil fuels are required anywhere in our production process.
  • On-demand: decentralised clean ammonia on-site at the flick of a switch.
  • Clean ammonia on demand: an opportunity the industry has never had before!

Clean Ammonia

Clean ammonia holds immense promise for a carbon-free future: with triple the energy density of compressed hydrogen and nine times that of lithium-ion batteries, a mature global infrastructure, and an extensive transport network, ammonia is the best vector for transporting hydrogen over long distances. Alongside being responsible for 50% of global food, clean ammonia is also a frontrunner in helping decarbonise the shipping sector.

Mega Minion

In a fossil fuel-free future, we'll need to transport masses of renewable energy worldwide. Wind and solar energy will be transported from sunny, windy places in sparsely populated deserts and oceans, where it is captured as hydrogen, to where it is needed: in the cities and towns where most people live.

We have relied on ammonia fertilisers for our food for 100 years. With its mature infrastructure, regulations, and technical know-how, the $75 billion ammonia economy is expected to triple by 2050. Clean ammonia now also has the potential to replace fossil fuels in industry and provide a way of storing and transporting energy from renewable sources.

As we scale up our technologies, Nium is interested in partnering with renewable energy companies to build Mega Minions, large-scale clean ammonia use cases that move gigatonnes of clean energy – while removing gigatonnes of carbon from the atmosphere.
